Jude Adams

Creator of music and a number of other thinGS

“Imagine being in a basement bar sometime in the early 1980’s.”

Set in the early 1980’s A Room of Our Own tells a story that reflects on living a closeted life, and progresses through the challenges and joys of hope, of health, of liberation and of finding our own place in the world, accepting and irrespective of our gender or sexual orientation.

Part physical theatre, musical theatre, part play, part cabaret, this is a semi-autobiographical piece and works the storyline to demonstrate its relevance to issues of identity today.

The soundtrack and songs are a selection from my first three albums, now reworked  as dynamic, dramatic and beautiful acoustic arrangements especially for this show c/o Chris Vince. To create this show I have collaborated with two members from a very wonderful young and diverse dance company MCDC which adds to the contemporary relevance.

We hope to bring you A Room of Our Own live in 2024 but in the meantime in February and March we shot a film pilot with filmmaker Clare Unsworth which has been selected for BRIGHTON FRINGE SHORT FILM PROGRAMME “Fringe Flicks” (Saturday May 18th) and THE RAMSGATE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2024 (June 25-30th.) I am also delighted to say that I have been awarded a mini-commission by 1DegreeEast to help develop the show.

Onwards we go!

“ Thought provoking, moving and humorous. Be uplifted by this story through songs, narration and dance. “
