ABOUT

“Creator of music and a number of other things.” My main creative focus is on musical projects: writing my own songs, recording them, performing them when circumstances and my capacity allows. And despite being a more than middle aged woman-developing my skills around my music such as with Freedom becoming far more pro active in the production of the album and even taking harmonica lessons! I have never played an instrument nor sung in a choir. I didn’t sing in front of anyone until I was 50. I may try and master the harmonica still but will certainly be exploring other musical possibilities - the follow on project to FREEDOM is already underway. I am not a proflic creator poring over my pen or paints in a workaday way but rather I am driven by projects.

Creating visual art was very much a natural development for me - telling stories in words, music and visually feels natural. I am a visual person. My  “memoir of sorts” that accompanied The Window to My Soul album was built out of a desire to share some tales in a book format aswell as songs but for that to be a lovely thing to look at and leaf through.

When I started singing in public aged 50,in 2009, I regarded it at most as a professional hobby. Health issues (a diagnosis of M.E. in late 2011) played a big role in determining what direction that hobby would go in and any performing that I had started doing came to a halt.

I managed to continue learning about songwriting online and by attending the occasional workshops and always continued taking vocal coaching. I started writing bits of poetry and with musical doodles popping into my head realised that I was actually writing songs! This Girl,This Woman was the outcome in 2016 followed in 2019 by The Window to My Soul (accompanied by a memoir of sorts and subsequently a visual art exhibition), with some performing beginning again in 2017. The album Freedom followed in October 2022 (again accompanied by some visual art) and as you read this A Room of Our Own (see home page) is being developed ready to share with you in October 2023.

My professional career prior to finding my voice was 21 years in the Fitness Industry having attended Sports College after school. I worked in Operations at all levels and then focused my attentions on HR spearheading that department from its inception for LA Fitness gaining Management and HR Diplomas along the way. In 2004 I turned my attention to a long held passion and spent 4 years gaining an Interior Design Diploma from KLC School of Design. I then spent 2 years building up freelance work and running a weekend B&B business from our home until 2012.

My passions apart from design and music have always very much included watching sport but especially tennis and football and in particular my beloved Fulham FC. I must not forget two other passions in my life - my wife and cats!!
